I can’t access the registration button on my telephone/tablet. How can I resolve this?

If you are holding your telephone or tablet horizontally it is possible that you will be unable to use the registration button. If the button still does not work please check that you have enabled Java script in your browser.

Are my details secure?

Speechwell endeavours to handle your data with the greatest of care. For detailed explanation please click here.

^ top

How can I create an account?

Press “SIGN UP” at the top-right. A screen will appear in which you can enter your personal details. Complete your registration by pressing “CONFIRM”. By doing this you are also accepting the Speechwell General Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. You will then receive an e-mail with further instructions.

^ top

I have a new e-mail address. How can I update this?

Hover the mouse over your account name at the top-right and select “Account Settings”. You will now have the opportunity to change your name, e-mail address or password. Enter your new e-mail address and press the associated green button in order to save your new details. Click here to go directly to "Account Settings".

 ^ top

I would like to share my credits with other people. Is that possible?

Yes, you can do that by inviting guests. You can only invite a guest if he or she already has an account with Speechwell. Click here for a detailed description on how to invite guests.

 ^ top

If I want to share my credits with someone. Can I just pass on my log in details?

You can do that, but inviting guests is a smarter option. Firstly, the other person would not then be able to see and change your account details. Secondly, your guest will be able to log in using his or her own e-mail address, so that he/she can use the Speechwell (progress) system for their own presentation, without that having an impact on the presentations of other main account users.

 ^ top

Can I also agree with someone that we use each other’s credits?

Yes, that is possible. If you invite the guest while the guest invites you the user who has no credits can use the credits of the other person.

 ^ top

What is a main account?

When you invite guests your account will be changed automatically into a main account. This only means that you have guests who (can) use your credits.

 ^ top

I have been invited by someone to share his or her credits. Will he/she then be able to monitor my progress?

No, that is not possible. The main account user can only see his/her personal progress. Because you log in using your personal e-mail address your details will only be available for you to see.

 ^ top

I no longer wish to share my credits. How can I stop this?

In your Account Settings you can see which guests you have invited and here you can also withdraw the invitations.

 ^ top

Is there anywhere I can see who has invited me and who I have invited?

In your Account Settings you can see which guests you have invited and here you can also withdraw the invitations. In your Account Settings you can also see who have invited you and you can accept or reject the invitation(s).

 ^ top

What happens if I am invited by someone and I also invite someone?

This does not cause any problems. Your own guest uses up his or her credits first, after which he/she can then use your credits. You use up your credits first, after which you can then use your host’s credits. Your guest can not use the credits of your host.

Step-by-step guide

I don’t have time to run through all of the steps – what are my options?

If you haven't yet prepared a presentation and you don’t have a lot of time then please watch the "Fast Track" video here. Do you have a PowerPoint presentation that you want to improve? You can improve it in just four steps! Click here to watch the "Improve existing PowerPoint" videos.

^ top

Where can I see what tasks I have completed?

If you are working in the guide, the six steps are shown at the top and the four tasks for that step are underneath. Between the steps and the tasks is a bar. The bar will be shown green above a task that you have completed. Once you have completed all tasks of a step you will also see a green tick in the tab for the relevant step.

^ top

I accidentally pressed “I have completed this task!” Can I undo this?

Unfortunately that is not possible. You must only press “I have completed this task!” when you have in fact completed it. Incidentally, you can undo your complete progress by starting a new presentation. To do this go to the top-right and hover the mouse over your account name and select "Start new presentation".

^ top

Can I also view the videos in a shorter list?

Yes, this is possible in the Library. You can access this by pressing “Library" at the top of the page. Select a category and you will be able to see the relevant videos. If you want to go to the Library now then please click here.

^ top

Where can I find the explanation video for a step?

Press the step of your choice in the guide. The first video on the list is the introduction video for this step. The title of the video always starts with “Introduction”. This video is free to watch.

^ top

Why does one video cost credits and another one doesn’t?

Watching the step-introduction videos is free and some other videos are free as well. However it is important to get some return on the investements we have made in order to create Speechwell. Because we work with credits you are free to decide what videos you want to watch. That works out considerably less expensive for you compared to fixed subscription system. There is a time limit of 30 days for watching the videos. That time is more than sufficient for completing the associated task or for viewing the video several times and familiarising yourself with the content. If we were to extent that time then we would have to charge more for the videos and that is something we don’t wish to do. The system of credits is the most user-friendly method that we could find.

^ top

If the bar does not turn green after I have pressed the "I have completed this task" button, what do I do then?

The progress will only be updated in the green bar if you have an account and are logged in.

Why is there a Library in addition to the Roadmap?

It may be that you also want to watch videos occasionally while you are not working on a presentation. We have set up the Library so that the videos can be shown quickly in a clear manner. The Library also contains extra videos that you will not find in the Roadmap.

My video is not playing. What do I need to do?

You need Adobe Flash Player to be able to watch the videos. If you want to install the latest version then we recommend that you uninstall the old version first.

  • Click here  to uninstall the old version of Adobe Flash Player.
  • Then click here  to install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.

If this does not work then please try the following:

  • Temporarily disable the software that blocks pop-ups.
  • Assign trusted site status to Speechwell.com in your firewall software.
  • Make sure that other applications such as Quicktime or Windows Media Player are not set as your default streaming application.

For Windows Vista users

If re-installing Adobe Flash Player does not work the cause may be a permissions issue in your operating system. Use the Windows button on the bottom left and then the search function:

  • Go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\.
  • Right-click on the following file: FlashUtil9b.exe or FlashUtil9e.exe.
  • Select “Run as administrator” and install the update.
  • Restart your computer.

Why do I sometimes see a Vimeo icon and on another occasion a YouTube icon for the video?

Speechwell uses two providers for presenting the videos. Most of the free videos are hosted by YouTube. The pay-videos are hosted by Vimeo. Both providers are tablet-compatible and the videos can also be watched on an iPhone or iPad (Mini).

^ top

Can I also view videos on my tablet?

Yes, the website is tablet-compatible. The videos can also be watched on Apple devises, including the iPhone or iPad (Mini). You do require an Internet connection and Javascript has to be enabled in your browser.

How can I change the quality of the video?

Right-click on the gearwheel at the bottom of the picture and select the required quality (YouTube only). You can also select “Auto”, in which case the player will automatically look at the video format on your screen and adjust the quality of the video accordingly.

^ top

My video is not streaming smoothly or will not continue playing. What can I do?

If the video does not stream smoothly then this can be due to a traffic peak on YouTube or Vimeo. However, it is more likely that your connection speed is too low or too irregular for the video.

  • Interrupt watching the video and wait until the entire stream has downloaded.
  • Re-play the video.

Not working? Delete the cache memory of the browser and delete your cookies. The instructions for this can be found in the help section of your browser.

Payment

Why can I only use credits for paying?

Speechwell believes that you should only pay for the things that you really use and that are beneficial to you. We do not therefore offer any expensive subscriptions. Instead, we offer individual videos that you can watch as often as you want for 30 days. You only pay for a video if you think you need it for preparing your presentation. We assume that you no longer need to watch the video again after that because you have by then familiarised yourself with the content. Depending on your current level of skill, the entire online 'course' will cost between 20 and 50 credits, after which you can prepare every presentation using the free steps and tasks. This really is the best deal.

^ top

What are the payment options?

You can pay credits using your credit card or you can use PayPal. You can pay for workshops using your credit card, PayPay or you can use the bank transfer option. If you decide to pay using a credit card, then your payment will be made via the secure PayPal website.

^ top

What do I get when I pay credits for a video?

After you have paid you can watch the video for 30 days, which is more than sufficient for completing the associated task. We assume that you no longer need to watch the video again after that because you have by then familiarised yourself with the content.
